Champagne Remains on Ice as Game 5 Remains in Rain DelayGame 5 to resume on Wednesday night
Mother Nature rained on Philadelphia’s parade—or at least delayed it—after Major League Baseball and the umpires suspended Game 5 of the World Series last night due to drenching conditions. The decision came after the Rays tied the game at 2 in the top of the sixth.
The game will continue in the bottom of the sixth inning today at 8pm ET. Cole Hamel will be on the mound for Philadelphia while Grant Balfour will hurl for Tampa Bay. The Phils have a chance to win the series with a win in Game 5 as they lead the series 3-1. The timely decision to suspend the game prevented the Rays from losing the World Series in the sixth inning had they not tied the game.
